If you’ve just calculated your BMI and are wondering if this BMI is accurate, then you’ve landed in the right place. If you’re a fellow Fitness Professional and still use BMI with your clients, then you’ve also landed in the right place. In fact, this information needs to be read by… well, everyone.

Recently, in a women’s cycling community on Facebook, the topic of cycling and weight loss came up… again. …

It’s probably been close to a decade since I left my desk based office job. One of my most recent office jobs actually made it quite easy to be active as I was constantly travelling to meet partners.

Ironically though, in that role, I barely found time to eat or exercise.

Being self employed / freelance has involved a lot of time on my laptop or computer, working from home. So nothing much has changed for me, except, there is very little freedom to be had outside of my home.

In previous years, I could hit 10,000 or 20,000 steps…

Whether you’re working from home or in an office, spending a lot of time seated at a desk can cause discomfort in your back, neck and shoulders. These at desk stretches are easy, quick and simple to help you relieve tension and improve posture.

Stretches You Can Do At Your Desk

After spending a lot of time sat my my desk (or on my bed, on the sofa or at the dining table), I started to suffer from tight shoulders and a sore neck. …

There hasn’t been a better time to be a bike owner than right now… it’s currently one of the best, if not the best option for getting to work with as little human contact as possible. Cycle commuting was how I rekindled my love for two wheels some years ago now so it will always hold a special place in my heart…

I’ve loved seeing all the content being created around commuting to work by bike — including this post which I contributed a tip to on what to pack in your saddle bag.

But, I dunno if I’m alone……

Well, haven’t the last few days been a lot to take in?! For me though, the last few days forced me to take in and digest the last few weeks, months, years… my whole life in fact.

The support for Black Lives Matter has been overwhelming, but we all know that this needs to never stop, until (as some now say) all lives matter.

I’ve had so many emails drop in my inbox, many from brands which seem performative so get deleted immediately, but one email, from Kate Doster, caught my eye. Kate wasn’t just sharing a list of books…

This is a guest post by Estrella that I asked her to write for the blog. She very kindly agreed and I’m so happy to share it with you. Please do get in touch with her if you would like support with your video content.

Creating video content is a key part of shifting your fitness services to the online space. Video is the next best experience if you can’t connect in-person, and you want to make it fun, effective, and easy to follow for your clients.

Here are my tips to help you plan, film and edit your next…

Not so long ago, I barely knew what Zoom was and I had no intentions whatsoever of ever using the platform to deliver online fitness classes (including core workouts like this one). But here we are, in the Spring of 2020 and I’ve created and launched a business in next to no time.

It’s been a steep learning curve, after figuring out how to work Zoom and use it to deliver fitness sessions, I then found some software to use for class bookings and management of the back end stuff.

NEW CLASS ADDED — Join Elle LIVE for Kettlebells 30…

Huge shoutout to Carly of Project HB who delivered an ace Instagram Live where she shared how she set up her classes on Zoom. You can check out and book her sessions here. See you at DISCOaerobics!

I know for some of you, you never thought the day would come that you would choose, or need to, deliver Personal Training or your fitness classes on Zoom. But, here we are.

For many of us in the fitness industry, it’s the difference between no income and being able to pay your bills until we’re allowed back out in the world. I’m sure that once the dust has all settled though, some will choose to continue to offer sessions online as it’s just so damn flexible.

Tip — make sure you check with your insurance provider that they will…

You’ve put blood, sweat and tears into getting the right qualifications, you’ve invested in all of the kit and equipment and you’ve set up your social media account and website. Now where are all of the customers?
